Best Hot Fudge Sauce

This hot fudge sauce is the easiest thing to make. It only takes about 10 minutes from start to ice cream! It keeps for ever in the fridge not that our first batch lasted longer than a week. Just spoon a little into a dish and microwave it for 10 seconds and you are ready to go. It’s from the Smitten Kitchen blog by the wonderful Deb Perelman.

Ingredients

  • 30gm unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup cream
  • 1/2 cup golden syrup, honey or sweet date syrup
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp fine salt
  • 170gm dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

Combine the butter (30gm), cream (2/3 cup), golden syrup (or sweetener of choice) (1/2 cup), sugar (1/4 cup), cocoa (1/4 cup), and salt (1/4 tsp) in a small saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer.

Simmer on low, stirring, for 3-5 minutes after everything has melted,

Stir in the chopped chocolate and vanilla, stirring until the chocolate is melted.

It is now ready to use, although it does thicken more as it begins to cool. Leftover can be stored in a jar in the fridge for at least a month. This really is simply delicious and if you do give this recipe a go please leave me a comment letting me know how you got on. Enjoy. Sheryl x
