Once you have made these cheese toasties you’ll never go back. The egg in the cheese topping give it a souffle like finish and the mustard and Worcestershire sauce provide a bit of tang. I came across this recipes on an Instagram post by sonny_loves_charlie she serves it with a tomato soup recipe that I must try next. You all know how I love my soup! The recipe makes a load but can easily be halved as I did this time.
Ingredients
- Sliced bread (about 9 -10 slices depending on size)
- Butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp seeded mustard
- Dash of Worcestershire
- ground pepper
- 3 cups grated tasty or cheddar cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 200°C .
Butter one side of the bread and place buttered side down on a tray lined with baking paper.
Bake for 5 minutes. Meanwhile prepare the cheese mix. Lightly whisk the eggs. Add seeded mustard, Worcestershire and pepper.
Add the cheese and mix well. Divide onto bread slices.
Bake a further 12 minutes at 200°C and serve.
Try to leave them a couple of minutes before eating, purely to save the roof of your mouth! Delicious served with or without soup. I hope you give this little recipe an go and please don’t forget to leave me a comment if you do. Enjoy. Sheryl x
